This small lidded container is a vintage Northeastern Woodland Indian fancy basket. It is built using a combination of woven brown ash splint and sweetgrass, which is typical of tribal basketry from the Northeast and Maritime Canada. It’s 4.5” diameter and 2.5” tall. Minor surface wear and there is a broken ash splint weaver right at the convergence hub, creating a small, visible gap on lid, see all photos for accurate description and condition.
